2022 Short Film Festival
Students, film fans and movie buffs…. we want you! The Urban Family Short Film Competition is looking for young filmmakers living in the Chinese mainland who want to grab a camera and tell a story. The theme for this year’s competition is FUTURE.
This creative competition is for short films made by students in Grades 1-12! Finalists will have a chance to win fantastic awards and prizes across four age categories. The competition is free to enter and short films must be no longer than three minutes. Winners will be featured in the June 2022 issue of Urban Family magazine.
We welcome all creatives from Grade 1-12 to submit their best short film to marketing@thatsmags.com with the subject: 2022 Short Film Festival Submission
Winners will be selected from three age categories (Grade 1-3, Grade 4–6, Grade 7–9 and Grade 10–12 ) and will be announced and published in the Winter 2022 issue of Urban Family magazine. Additional prizes include vouchers and more.
Contestants will also have an opportunity to winthe 'Reader’s Choice Award' through an online votingsystem!
The deadline for all submissions is at 6pm (China Standard Time) Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Guideline:
The theme for the UrbanFamily 2022 Short Film Festival is 『FUTURE『. All submitted entries must establish a link to this theme.
All short films must be specifically made for the UrbanFamily 2022 Short Film Festival.
Entry is free and is open to all primary and secondary school (Grade 1-12) students in the Chinese mainland.
Each short film must be between two to three minutes long. Opening and or closing credits are not required, but (if added) should only be 10 seconds in total.
Short Films may be in English or have no dialogue at all.
Ensure that all content in your short film (including footage, music, images, props, etc.) is your own. If you include any copyrighted or trademarked content, you must be able to provide written permission for its use. Entries containing any unauthorized content will be disqualified.
All entries must be submitted via email (including the short film and at least three still images from and a 300-400-word description) by May 1, 2022.
To enter:
Submit your short film to one of four categories:
Lower Primary/Elementary (Grade1-3)
Upper Primary/Elementary (Grade4–6)
Lower Secondary/JH (Grade7–9)
Upper Secondary/HS (Grade10– 12)
If an entry is created by more than one person or a group of people, it should be entered into the category that applies to the oldest member of the group. While some assistance from parents and or teachers is expected – particularly in the primary school categories – the creative vision for the entry must be the students』 own and the bulk of the work must be done by the students. Each short film may only be submitted once. An entrant may submit multiple entries, as long as each entry differs significantly from any others submitted by that entrant.
How to Send Your Entry to Us?：
For your short film entry to be valid, you must either Email an MP3/MP4 or another usable link or send a link from WeTransfer/QQ tomarketing@thatsmags.com.
You must submit the following with your short film:
Name(s) and age(s) of filmmaker(s)
Name of school(s) involved
Title of the short film
300-400 word description of your short film
Contact details
At least six high-resolution pictures or still images of the filmmaking process, the filmmakers and anything relevant to the short film.

Reader’s Choice Award
Rules and Specifications:
1.Only one short film for the 'Reader's Choice Award' will be accepted per applicant. We will consider the first piece you send.
2. Submissions made after 6pm (China Standard Time) on Monday, May 30, 2022, will not be considered.
3. Winners will be decided according to the number of likes a video receives within the specified time.
How to Enter?
1. Search "意婉說YvonneSays" on WeChat Channels and click on the "Event" section
2. After entering the event section, select 'Participate', and upload your short film to the 'Reader’s Choice Award'. Posting requires @UrbanFamily and #2022SFF
Submission time: from now until 6pm on May 30, 2022. Winners will be announced on May 31, 2022.
