Imran Khan has been shot and wounded in an apparent assassination attempt, an act of violence against one of Pakistan’s most popular and influential political leaders that shocked the country.

A New York judge will allow an independent monitor to oversee Donald Trump’s business interests and has imposed restrictions on the Trump Organization’s assets pending a trial over allegations of widespread fraud.

Jeff Bezos is teaming up with music mogul Jay-Z to acquire the Washington Commanders in a bid that could value the National Football League team at up to $6bn, said two people briefed about the matter.

The Bank of England has raised interest rates by 0.75 percentage points to 3 per cent in its most forceful act to tame inflation for 30 years but signalled that borrowing costs would not rise in the future by as much as markets expect.
