Chinese Communists are keenly aware that only by integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and fine traditional culture and only by applying dialectical and historical materialism can we provide correct answers to the major questions presented by the times and discovered through practice and can we ensure that Marxism always retains its vigor and vitality.

integrate /ˈɪn.tɪ.ɡreɪt/ 1）表示「使合併，使成為一體」，英文解釋為「to combine two or more things in order to become more effective」舉個🌰：

You need to integrate exercise into your normal life.

你必須讓鍛煉成為你日常生活的一部分。

2）表示「（使）融入（某社會或群體）；（使）成為一體」，英文解釋為「to mix with and join society or a group of people, often changing to suit their way of life, habits, and customs」舉個🌰：

He seems to find it difficult to integrate socially.

他似乎覺得很難與別人打成一片。

表示「信條；宗旨；原則」，英文解釋為「one of the principles on which a belief or theory is based」。

dialectical /ˌdaɪ.əˈlek.tɪ.kəl/ 表示「辯證的」，英文解釋為「discovering what is true by considering opposite theories」如：dialectical materialism/logic 辯證唯物主義/邏輯。

堅持和發展馬克思主義，必須同中國具體實際相結合。

To uphold and develop Marxism, we must integrate it with China’s specific realities.

我們堅持以馬克思主義為指導，是要運用其科學的世界觀和方法論解決中國的問題，而不是要背誦和重複其具體結論和詞句，更不能把馬克思主義當成一成不變的教條。

Taking Marxism as our guide means applying its worldview and methodology to solving problems in China; it does not mean memorizing and reciting its specific conclusions and lines, and still less does it mean treating it as a rigid dogma.

methodology /ˌmeθ.əˈdɒl.ə.dʒi/ 表示「一套方法；方法論；教學法」，英文解釋為「a system of ways of doing, teaching, or studying something」舉個🌰：

The methodology and findings of the research team have been criticized.

這個研究小組的研究方法和研究結果受到了批評。

表示「更不用說，更別提」，英文解釋為「used to make a negative statement stronger」舉個🌰：

At the age of 13 I had never even been on a train, much less an aircraft.

我13歲時還從未坐過火車，更不用說飛機了。

We must continue to free our minds, seek truth from facts, move with the times, and take a realistic and pragmatic approach.

表示「講究實際的，重實效的；實用主義的」，英文解釋為「solving problems in a sensible way that suits the conditions that really exist now, rather than obeying fixed theories, ideas, or rules」舉個🌰：

In business, the pragmatic approach to problems is often more successful than an idealistic one.

在商業活動中，解決問題用實際的方法往往比空想更有成效。

一切從實際出發，着眼解決新時代改革開放和社會主義現代化建設的實際問題，

We must base everything we do on actual conditions and focus on solving real problems arising in our reform, opening up, and socialist modernization endeavors in the new era.

不斷回答中國之問、世界之問、人民之問、時代之問，作出符合中國實際和時代要求的正確回答，得出符合客觀規律的科學認識，形成與時俱進的理論成果，更好指導中國實踐。

We must keep responding to the questions posed by China, by the world, by the people, and by the times; in doing so, we should find the right answers suited to the realities of China and the needs of our day, reach conclusions that are compatible with objective laws, and develop new theories that are in step with the times, so as to provide better guidance for China’s practice.

compatible /kəmˈpætəbəl/ 表示「可共存的；協調的；兼容的」，英文解釋為「able to exist, live together, or work successfully with something or someone else」舉個🌰：

It was when we started living together that we found we just weren't compatible.

等到開始生活在一起時，才發現我們根本合不來。

堅持和發展馬克思主義，必須同中華優秀傳統文化相結合。

To uphold and develop Marxism, we must integrate it with China’s fine traditional culture.

只有植根本國、本民族歷史文化沃土，馬克思主義真理之樹才能根深葉茂。

Only by taking root in the rich historical and cultural soil of the country and the nation can the truth of Marxism flourish here.

表示「茁壯成長；繁榮；蓬勃發展」，英文解釋為「to grow or develop successfully」舉個🌰：

My tomatoes are flourishing this summer - it must be the warm weather.

今年夏天我的西紅柿長勢很好——這一定是天氣暖和的原因。

中華優秀傳統文化源遠流長、博大精深，是中華文明的智慧結晶，

With a history stretching back to antiquity, China’s fine traditional culture is extensive and profound; it is the crystallization of the wisdom of Chinese civilization.

antiquity /ænˈtɪk.wə.ti/ 1）表示「（尤指六世紀以前的）古代」，英文解釋為「the distant past (= a long time ago), especially before the sixth century」

2）表示「古物；古董；古蹟」，英文解釋為「an object that was created a very long time ago」舉個🌰：

Under Greek law, all antiquities that are discovered in Greece belong to the government.

根據希臘法律，在希臘發現的所有古物均歸政府所有。

crystallization /ˌkrɪs.təl.aɪˈzeɪ.ʃən/ 1）表示「結晶，形成晶體」，英文解釋為「the process of turning into crystals」舉個🌰：

Our traditional culture espouses many important principles and concepts, including pursuing common good for all; regarding the people as the foundation of the state; governing by virtue; discarding the outdated in favor of the new; selecting officials on the basis of merit; promoting harmony between humanity and nature; ceaselessly pursuing self-improvement; embracing the world with virtue; acting in good faith and being friendly to others; and fostering neighborliness. These maxims, which have taken shape over centuries of work and life, reflect the Chinese people’s way of viewing the universe, the world, society, and morality and are highly consistent with the values and propositions of scientific socialism.

espouse /ɪˈspaʊz/ 表示「投身（活動）；支持，擁護（觀點）」，英文解釋為「to become involved with or support an activity or opinion」舉個🌰：

Vegetarianism is one cause she does not espouse.

她並不贊成素食主義。

📍《經濟學人》（The Economist）一篇介紹迪士尼公司執行董事長鮑勃·艾格（Bob Iger）的文章中提到：Mr Iger had no truck with the notion, espoused by some pundits, that xxx. 有些行業權威認為xxx，但艾格從不認可這種觀點。

表示「丟棄」，英文解釋為「If you discard something, you get rid of it because you no longer want it or need it.」舉個🌰：

maxim /ˈmæksɪm/ 表示「格言；箴言；座右銘」，英文解釋為「Amaximis a rule for good or sensible behaviour, especially one in the form of a saying.」舉個🌰：

morality /məˈræl.ə.ti/ 表示「道德體系，道德觀」，英文解釋為「a set of personal or social standards for good or bad behaviour and character」舉個🌰：

We must stay confident in our history and culture, make the past serve the present, and develop the new from the old.

We must integrate the essence of Marxism with the best of fine traditional Chinese culture and with the common values that our people intuitively apply in their everyday lives.

表示「本質；實質；精髓」，英文解釋為「the most important quality or feature of sth, that makes it what it is」舉個🌰：

The essence of consultation is to listen to, and take account of, the views of those consulted.

諮詢的本質是傾聽並把那些被諮詢者的觀點考慮進來。

不斷賦予科學理論鮮明的中國特色，不斷夯實馬克思主義中國化時代化的歷史基礎和群眾基礎，讓馬克思主義在中國牢牢紮根。

We should keep endowing Marxist theory with distinctive Chinese features and consolidating the historical basis and public support for adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times. With this, we will ensure that Marxism puts down deep roots in China.

endow /ɪnˈdaʊ/ 1）表示「向（院校、醫院等）捐款，捐贈，資助」，英文解釋為「to give a large amount of money to pay for creating a college, hospital, etc. or to provide an income for it」舉個🌰：

The state of Michigan has endowed three institutes to do research for industry.

密歇根州已經向3家研究所提供資助進行產業研究。

2）表示「賦予（ (某種特徵或品質）」，英文解釋為「If you endow something with a particular feature or quality, you provide it with that feature or quality.」舉個🌰：

Herbs have been used for centuries to endow a whole range of foods with subtle flavours.

香草幾個世紀以來一直被用來賦予各種食品細膩的味道。

distinctive /dɪˈstɪŋk.tɪv/ 表示「與眾不同的，獨特的，特別的」，英文解釋為「Something that is distinctive is easy to recognize because it is different from other things.」如：a distinctive smell/taste 特別的氣味/味道。

consolidate /kənˈsɒl.ɪ.deɪt/ 表示「（使）鞏固；（使）加強」，英文解釋為「to become, or cause something to become, stronger, and more certain」舉個🌰：

The success of their major product consolidated the firm's position in the market.

公司主打產品取得的成功鞏固了該公司在市場上的地位。

實踐沒有止境，理論創新也沒有止境。

Just as there are no bounds to practice, there is no end to theoretical innovation.

It is the solemn historical responsibility of today’s Chinese Communists to continue opening new chapters in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times.

1）表示「莊嚴的；嚴正的；鄭重的」，英文解釋為「done, said, etc. in a very serious and sincere way」，如：a solemn oath/undertaking/vow, etc. 莊嚴的誓言、鄭重的承諾、嚴肅的誓約等。
